  • Kayak Crabbing Article

So on short notice, I was asked to write an article about kayak crabbing for an annual local crabbing magazine. The magazine is posted online, and is available in print form at various bait and tackle shops in the area, along with crabbing supply shops. The article has been published...give it a read when you get the chance. I was honored to have been asked to contribute. I wrote the article in about two days. The magazine contains a bunch of great articles covering all aspects of crabbing....written by local watermen and recreational crabbers all over Maryland. Its pretty neat.

    www.mdlovescrabs.com is the main site.

The article can be found here:

      Excellent write-up Langston.

A bushel of crabs is a valuable catch at today's prices.

So what happens if one of those devils gets loose in your kayak?

You don't have much room to avoid a rogue crab!

Thanks. I've had it happen before I designed my topper. I had to keep the crab at bay with my feet until I got my gloves to grab him. Initial reaction was to panic lol

I think maybe I would be wearing one of those athletic protection cups.

Thanks for the article. I arrived in Maryland last year and started kayaking last summer. One day while fishing for Spot I felt a tug on my line and pulled up this guy. A Blue Crab, swim shorts, and a kayak made for a very interesting few moments testing my agility and the kayaks stability.

                  Metro,
My old man called me yesterday and was all excited to tell me about this article. He has a commerical crabbing license so I am assuming they sent him the magizine. He is basically an old salt who is hard to impress, but he loved it. It was like he never imagined that to be possible. Haha. Good going.
