  • Landing net size

What is an adequate size landing net for fish such as stripers, reds, and specks? I have a smaller net for other fish that I don't think would be adequate for the larger fish.

Sometimes a net can be a real fish saver - I don't know how many I have netted over the years that I would have lost if not for the net.

The best nets are the ones with rubber mesh. The rope/twine kind really take the slime off the fish. So if you care about preserving fish that you wish to release, the rubber ones are best. Hooks don't tend to get stuck in them as much either. I usually forgo the net, not always though, in favor of a lipper. Although you're right, nets will land more fish. One with about a 2' opening should be sufficient
