I was fishing there the weekend before and convinced the wife to swim while I fished....had she known there was a shark in the waters, that would have been the last time
If one is seen I am sure there are plenty more that are not. Sounds like a new target species in the bay! Maybe something that will bite the tail off a blue for once.

They've always been there .......... Decades ago some guys targeted them and had a big news spread in the Sunpapers when they caught a couple ........ They were also caught in nets around the bridge
Shark week isn't till later in August
A couple of week ago, I was in Bethany. I was getting ready to dive into a swell when I noticed something dark within the wave headed my way. It was a ray (or skate or whatever). Literally came flying at me! Within in inches of my legs it turned and swam off. It un-nerved me a little. Dove in anyway. That things stayed along that stretch of beach all day!
It was probably a skate as they feed in the surf and along the drop offs. You should also know that, wherever you find skates, you will find sharks.
If you search tidalfish.com, you will find pics of the sharks caught by the UMD tagging guys along the coast from CHSP down to Rehoboth Beach. I don't even let the dog go in the water there anymore.

I think I read somewhere that there has never been a report case of a shark attacking a human in the Ches bay. When I fished in Okinawa, every year great whites would come down, but we would still be in the dingy. If I got bit by a shark and survived, I would go play the lottery the very next day.
