  • I'm headed to Rehoboth in a couple of weeks

I'll be spending a few days at the beach. I won't have my kayak, but are there opportunities to fish?

Sand fleas off the Indian river ocean side jetties during the day could get all kinds of fish. Could jig the jetty pockets at night with zooms or bass assassins for stripers and whatever else is cruising around. That's really the best and one of the only shore spots I know down there

You are not far from Cape Henlopen, you could fish the Pier. Probably only spot and croaker fishing shoulder to shoulder...the whole reason why we all got kayaks!

Headboats out of Lewes are doing well on Flounder. Not crowded during the week.

If you dont go, you wont know, and you got to have bait in the water.

You can surf fish in the mornings and evenings before and after the life guards & beach-goers show up. Kingfish , croakers, and spot on bloodworms, shrimp, fish bites, etc., cast bucktails behind the shore break for flounder, mullet rigs for blues, and if you have a heaver you can toss out some heads for some big toothies. I'd wait until evening for tossing big baits though and make sure you're rigged right; there are some biguns cruising within casting distance!

I'd second the sand flea and casting idea at Indian River too. If you decide to walk out on the rocks though makes sure you have some korkers on.

Check out the Coastal Fisherman online. The current issue, at the bottom, has a Delaware Report that will give you an idea of what's been happening.
