Was at oxford-bellveue ferry today and saw a 3 or so foot shark in the shallows . At first we had doubts it was a shark , but we seen it a few times and there's no dought it was. Does any one know what kind it could've been? It wasn't scared of us. It either was following us or there was more than a few of them.

It's probably a sand shark. Here's a good link for shark varieties in the bay: http://www.chesapeakebay.net/blog/po...chesapeake_bay

Sand sharks require more salinity in the water than we currently have. I suspect it is a Bull Shark which are happy in low salt levels. They have been seen all the way up past the BB and I have personally had one next to my boat at Love Point a couple of years ago. The one I saw was about 9 ft long and I would have had a heart attack if I was in a kayak!

How about a Finetooth Shark, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finetooth_shark. They were being caught this weekend down on the ocean side, but I don't know if they come up into the bay. It sounds like your description.
