  • Rookie kayak Trolling!!

This was only my third trip trolling on the severn river. In previous trips I had no luck because I did not have a GPS fishfinder but this time I had my brand-new elite 4 HDI and it paid off!! I caught multiple bluefish but no rockfish that I was targeting. I can finally see all the topography which helped a lot. On my way back in I didn't have a proper lighting system on my kayak so a motorboat got a little too close and caught my trolling line. I lost about 300 yards of PowerPro and my brand-new Yum Brella!! With all my brand-new swim baits on it. The first time I went kayak fishing I learned that I need to tether down everything that I have on the kayak or else I will lose it because I lost my brand-new fishingrod. Now I tether everything. This time I learned that I need better lighting when coming back at dark. Through trial and error one day I hope to be a pro!! Lol........I'd like to send out a special thanks to yakfish. Because of you and your book I got onto these fish and hopefully many more!!

Good deal...putting in your time pays off, eh? :-) Sorry about the lost gear. More are coming as some of the best months are coming up!

There's always a much better chance of getting the big one on the water than in your living room.

Thanks for sharing your mistakes. We can all learn from them. Good luck when you go out again.
