My friend and I decided to try one last time at Cape Henlopen State Park for blues today. We couldn't go yesterday as we were at a Heroes On The Water event in NJ. I figured the blue run was coming to an end. Two weeks ago the water temps were around 56 today the were almost 65.
We hit the water around 10:30 and pulled out at 5:00. The place was a ghost town. No fleet of boats and only a few sea kayaks. The big schools of fish were no where to be found. We hunted for them and didn't see any signs of the huge schools that were there previously. We would see some stragglers in the fish finder but they could have been anything. I had 4 hooked up today but think two of them may have been the same fish on two different rods. I fought him all the way to the boat and he jumped out of the water and literally bounced off my kayak spitting the hook in the process. All in all we only landed one of 6 bites.
I think it's time to go back to bass fishing.
