Couldn't resist one more shot at drum with a momentary break in the wind Friday. I knew if we fished incoming tide with the south wind we'd be able to anchor and maybe get a few as we got close to the full moon. Fished clams for several hours catching nothing but dogfish and skates and constantly moved to get away from them.
Finally, about 4 hours in I hooked a small drum. I brought it back to my buddy at anchor and he snapped a few pics. As I was releasing my fish my buddy swung wildly and connected with a big fish that he fought for quite some time. It was his biggest and first drum of the year after getting the skunk on 3 previous attempts. Well deserved.
We only heard drumming for about an hour and caught those two in 5 minutes. The last of the incoming seemed to be the ticket. My day got worse from there as I somehow broke my mojo inshore on a dogfish and also had a dead truck battery when we got back to the launch. All in all a good day though
