Headed to Astoria in the morning for two and a half days of fishing- will post pictures- last year was the best fishing in more than thirty years, so I had to come back same time, same place this year...love those big salmon on light tackle...tasty too...

I ended up with four fish- my buddy also had four
The winds got up and the mighty Columbia roughed up- tide was running out against the wind- had a Coast Guard helo make a rescue after a boat capsized- we watched between fighting our way through giant swells- awesome power- three boats took on water and the Coast Guard had a busy day Saturday-

lots of accidents on the columbia bar....that's why they train coast guard swimmers there. You can count on rough water

Coast Guard surf boat crew was exhausted back at the docks- young kids- they had pumped out and towed three boats back in- our 20 foot Willis jet boat was fine- my buddy is an excellent captain
