Redfish,
I used to fish near Blue Plains frequently in the January/February timeframe. Primarily using Silver Buddies, I would catch gizzard shad in the mouth so they will eat lures. However, I must admit that for every one I caught that way, I would snag about 10 others. At that time of year, it's hard/impossible to fish a silver buddy thru their without at least bumping a shad on every cast.
