Hi all. Planning a trip to Islamorada, Florida for end of Feb/beginning of march. I know this is the sport fishing capital of the world and thats mainly why im looking for a recommendation. The amount of boats and captains is somewhat overwhelming. Second question i have is what is more worthwhile in your opinion, backbay flats fishing or offshore this time of year? Seems offshore sailfish catch and release is whats happening now but i dont know what else they are catching. I will be calling around some captains but figured i would ask here. TIA

I went out with a great Capt.

I've been out twice with him. You may be a little early for the Tarpon run, But he has a license to fish the everglade park which is great back water fishing. He can take on a short run out to the radio tower in the green water and catch barracudas and mangrove snapper and Spanish macs. He docks at the World Wide Bass pro shop. He also has taken the pros out to do their TV shows.

I went with this guy two January's ago. Awesome time. I think we caught 10+ species in a single trip and he really knows his stuff. He had great availability and the price was right. His boat was right at Chesapeake Beach Resort where I stayed.
