12.5' is the sweet spot, longer than a PA12 and shorter/more manueverable than a PA14...

Heard last night that the pedal drive is a very similar setup to the Hobie v1 Mirage, since the patent has expired.

Having just bought a 2019 Vibe I was keen to read about all of the features on the Shearwater that I'd be missing out on ha! I read all the info and whatnot and this boat is a real machine. Four rod holders, track mounts, Bixby-ready rudder, rod tip protectors, electronics mounting plate, a super cool foldable "perch"/seat combo all come standard, plus as Ron mentioned there's the option for a pedal drive. It gives a real option to folks who aren't sure whether they want a pedal drive but do want a solid, stable fishing kayak. Also, if money is tight, you can purchase the kayak itself ($1299 I believe) and then save up for the pedal drive or the Bixby and add that later. I might be overreaching, but I feel like this price point and standard features, along with the swiss-army capability for upgrades really sets the bar for affordable fishing kayaks on the market right now. Vibe really hit it out of the park.
