I wouldn't use these stringer to hold SH. I lost one to similar stringer, I'll go for spearfishing stringer for big fish

Aren't you supposed to kill SH if you're going to keep them? I would bring a cooler with ice and leave the stringer at home for them...

I usually cut their gills, leave them hanging outside the kayak to bleed them since I don't want a bloody kayak

Speaking of stringers, you can get a spearfishing stringer (same as the big game stringer Shady suggested) or you can modify the Mustad one by replacing the rope with a thin diameter (pliable) coated steel cable from home depot...


I really like the upgrade because the line doesn't tangle and it adds a little weight to keep the fish lower. You can also clip on a weight at the bottom and it will lessen the tendency for the fish to rise when your moving at a faster pace.
