Wow what a day! Got to Bev Triton around 6:15 and the ranger came out and opened the gate early for me. So I went in and was on my way a little before 7. Met Kahn before launching and chatted up a little bit and he told me what to look for. Started off trying to get the skunk off quick, casting a beetle spin near shore for perch, only caught one, but mission accomplished. Headed out to deeper water looking for bigger fish and spent 35 minutes trolling around before I finally saw the bird cloud. I thought, man they look to far away for me to get to in my limited time. Well luck was on my side, because they came to me. Got into them and boom two fish on, a 17" Blue and 19" Striper. Circled to try to get back on em and made a huge tangled mess on my tandem crank and spoon line along with my other two lines. Cut lines, and tied one back together and luck would have it there was a fish still on the end of the line. Pulled in a fat 21" Striper. After wasting time getting things untangled and reset, I had lost the birds for a bit, but I quickly regained them. Got into the birds and picked up another 17" Blue. Tried casting a Badonkadonk and had a swipe at it, but no hooks into him and after a couple minutes I was off the fish again. Sprinted to get back to them and picked up another 18" Striper. Fish were caught on: 1 on trolls to 10 rapala minnow crank bait, 3 on a Spin Trix 3/8 oz shad jighead with pearl gulp mullet, and 1 on a redfish magic with a Z-man paddler in shad color. Headed in around 8:30 as Cowpokey and Cowkid were heading out. Sorry, I didn't stay and chat much, had to rush out of there to make it home and head off to see the ORIOLES magic! My wife and I took our son Camden to his first game at Camden yards to see an O-Mazing game! Here's a few pics:

Im late to the report. I met Khan and John V at the launch and headed out with John. I decided to try a couple spots that worked well for me last year that were prob midway to Thomas point light and I got caught up trying to chase birds. Im guessing you guys let em come to you? I only got into the mix on one of em and had a blue bite of my paddle tail and they they were gone with a group of center consoles chasing em. I did get a PB blue at 16.5", Rock at 16,17, and 18 and one surprise fish: I think it was an Atlantic Needlefish, prob about 22". It pulled surprising hard for how skinny it was, but it was like a quick burst of energy and then it reeled in very easy. I was going to take a picture of it, but it self released when I went to lift it into the yak. I had two heavy hitters come unbuttoned. So despite not getting into the feeding frenzy, it was still a fun day. I pedaled for 6 hours or so and getting back to the launch was a workout from the river mouth. Tide and wind were both blowing against me... thank god for pedals!

It was nice to meet you Khan and sorry I missed Shady and Cowpokey. Always good to see John again too.

I did have an encounter with a Pirate ship!

Cowpokey... glad you got your time in early. By the time I came back in, I was soaked from 4 footers breaking over the bow.

She will be taking over the current Cowyak, when I add a 2015 Outback to the fleet...or maybe she'll take the '15?

Gotta get her on her own kayak.
