  • Smith creek water clarity question?

Hello, Just curious but what water clarity do you guys normally find in smith creek or St. Jeromes creek. I'm getting ready for this weekend and putting my boxes together. I know the water I found at the base this past weekend was crystal clear, could see the bottom clearly in 5 ft. Don't know if that's normal for around here, or depends on wind?

Last weekend St Jeromes was very muddy. Mike at Buzz's Marine told me it was because of the strong NE winds the days before and lack of any freshwater coming into the creek. Even the inlet was pretty muddy when I fished it. I have found Smith Creek to be fairly muddy back inside of it with some clearing at the mouth. The water around the rip rap wall on the point to the right of the launch has been perhaps 2-3 feet of visability. With the strong south winds this week I have a feeling it will be churned up more than normal.

Thanks Big Mike! Maybe where I was ( cedar point ) with that westerly wind made the water clearer than usual. I guess im used to fishing areas with at best 1 - 2ft visability .

I'm either going to hit Smith creek or cedar point Friday, u planning on getting out this weekend?
