  • Beverly-Triton Sunday

I bundled up and hit the water about noon on Sunday in the hopes of getting into some stripers. Due to a death in the family this was the first time I've been out since the Spring. I trolled for about three and one half hours before my knees burned out and landed one shorty about 16". Was not able to mark fish nor did I see any bird activity. Nevertheless, it felt great to be back on the water.

How deep was the water where you were fishing? Fish have been moving deeper since the cold weather rolled in.

I was trolling 18' to 20' but the only fish I caught was in about 8' to 10'. A couple of other snaggedliners were coming off I was going out and it was slow for them too. I may need to hook up with someone in the future and try again. Being by myself I was a bit afraid to go too far out.

Going out with a group is always helpful. Lots more lines in the water shortens up the searching quite a bit. We've been fishing there pretty regular over the last few months. So we kind of have figured out what works...usually. Do you have a VHF radio? That is another helpful tool groups use to relay info.

Unfortunately I don't have a radio. What I really need to do is make it to the meet and greets and make more contacts. It would be nice to go out with a group.
