  • Susquehanna Saturday

My brother in law came in for Thanksgiving and wanted to fish. Having only one kayak we had to fire up the jet boat. We launched Saturday the 29th from Lapidum. Fished from the deep hole in front of the condos all the way up past Deer Creek. The water looked beautiful but the FF was reading a chilly 42 degrees. We tried everything. Hair, metal, plastics, jigs, jerk baits.....threw it all. When we got up to Deer Creek we could see birds working and got pretty excited. Seems like the birds were just picking bait being washed down from the dam release. No pods, no fish chasing bait. We fished all day and managed one average smallmouth. Put the boat on the trailer at dusk and the water temp was 44.5 degrees. Maybe it is over on the Susquehanna for the season? Not another boat to be seen. Saw one brave soul in a float tube in front of Deer Creek but didn't see him bend a rod either.

Pretty soon those deep holes in front of the condos should start holding yellow perch...

We marked a few fish in the holes. I need a dry suit. I am done with my yak until I get one. I don't want to take a dip in 40 degree water.
