I have Mariner (12.5') Propel kayaks so I can't give first hand experience on the slayer 10 or its big brother. John Veil has posted his review of the Slayer 10 relative to the Slayer 13 - you could look that up.

I have taken the Mariner there without reservation and also had it in some pretty nasty stuff in Connecticut where I was surprised I did not get seasick (I am susceptible to that). I think I managed to keep my breakfast because I was constantly catching fish.

BTW - love the Wood Duck - I also have a Chesapeake 17 in the boatel (... er ... basement)

The Slayer's footwell is not very dry in choppy waters. It's one of the few complaints I have about it. Otherwise it's been my favorite yak thus far -- I'm a huge fan (and no affiliation with Native here).

The Mariner's footwell also gets wet fairly easily ... both boats have scuppers though.

I intentionally leave the front set of scuppers in the seating area open in all my Native kayaks. I don't mind a small amount of water coming in and out. I want to have protection in case I take a wave or wake over the side.
