Yes, pickerel catches are worthy of merit too.

Their teeth are awesome, they fight well and they've been willing to please while the stripers have been vacationing from the Severn.

          My apoliges group...
It was a wonderfully beautiful calm day on Weems. I had plans for some Croaker fishing..
but opted for a mellow trip.. being the 4th all and all.
ie: limited boat traffic... no crab bot mine fields...

I went up into the creek.... caught a number of Perch. Never target Perch before.. so that was fun...

My first catch was the Pickerel... and it was the first one I have caught.
          So.. ha.. ha.. my biggest
Thought I had a massive perch... and quite a surprise as was the Bluefish I caught early in
          the year off Beverly.

I was using Beetle spinners with these el'cheapo Zoom tubes...

The hook took for ever to get out.. from the side of it's mouth... and had to nurse her
back to life to get her swimming again.. I tried my best to not rough house her.
And I didn't bring my camera.. nor if I did want to belabor the process getting her back in the water...
Not my picture but about this size...

Caught the Perch on the same and also the Zoom el'cheapo green grey shads.

Well anyway... have a good 4th... got some el'cheapo Pork picinic shoulder smokin on the grill....
Probably try to smoke the Perch later when the pork is done.

A 20 plus inch pickerel is always fun...except when it comes to retrieving your lure!

              Congratulations.

If you aren't used to catching and handling a Pickerel, you'll only try to lip one, once.
