  • SPSP - Report

I launched at around 7:30 this morning on the hunt for rockfish. I threw my arm off trying pink and chartreuse BKDs dipping the tails in garlic scent but had no luck. I fished some blood worms on the bottom with a crappie rig and ended up with 5 white perch. 4 of them were 8" to 9" and the biggest was just over 11". I actually caught 2 at the same time. I left my stringer at the house so all got released to fight another day. The area was heavy with boat traffic. Some boaters just fly through the pilings with no regard to anyone anchored up around them. I made it all the way to the first rock pile and was casting parallel to the wall. This boater gets within 20' from me and casts over my line. It completely threw me off guard. I stared him down for a few seconds and he just kept casting away like he owned the place. Anyways, the water started getting pretty choppy at around noon so I called it a day.

Boat traffic on the weekends is really tough. You have to really want it. I suspect all of the coming and going put the fish on guard and make the bite challenging. Glad you got some perch out of the deal.

    How was the current?

    Thanks for your report.

The current wasn't bad in the morning but it got pretty swift closer to noon.
