Went out today on a tributary of the Patapsco today.Met a couple of veteran snaggedliners at the ramp on their way back in. They kindly offered some helpful tips. 5 hours of peddle time in the Hobie, mostly teeth to the wind. Bucktails 1/2 oz., 3/4 oz. Tails of chartreuse, pearl, some kinda metalflake, paddle, curly, straight, pick a length any length. Rat-l-traps, minnow imatations, spoons even. Shallow, deep, working the edge, working the cove and creek mouths. Yield 1 (one) 12" striper. What a difference from the same water 4 days ago when they were practically jumping into the boat ( and were surely jumping around the boat.) Surface temp has dropped by 8 degrees. Not marking much bait in the water let alone fish. Was fishing a falling tide this time... Hmmmmm maybe that's it!?
All in all a good day on the water, with the reward of the sun peeking through the clouds a few times on the return to the ramp.
