Launched just after sunrise to cloudy & v windy conditions.....& to breaking fish! Waves consistently over the bow & spray in my face.....thankfully, the water was warm( mid-upper 60s, maybe 70?)& air temps in low 60s. My fishing partner hooks into 3 just-shy-of-legal stripers in his 1st 4 casts. Then the breakers vanish only to pop up elsewhere. Throughout the day we chased birds & fish splashes not to be confused with white caps. It seemed everytime we caught up to the birds they would fly off chasing the fish away from us.I looked for sandbars & points & I casted in the shallows & deep areas & I trolled. I hooked a double (12" blue & a baby striper). I caught some big fat white perch. The tide was coming in during the morn w/ the winds pushing against the tide which made for bigger waves. I caught a bunch of dinks, incl a fat 19" striper. I kept a couple wp & the blue for dinner. My buddy landed a lot more stripers than I did & most were very fat but no keepers today unlike yesterday when all he caught were keepers. I was hoping to catch some specks but no love there. Warning: if the wind blows your hat into the water for the 4th time, make sure you put it back on or you will be sunburnt like I am right now.... only feeling it once I arrived back home. Oh, yea, a friend of my buddy caught a short flounder in his crab trap. It was about 12-13" long.

Hey BigMike: I dunno where those locations are. I launched from a v steep site that my buddy's neighbor allows him access. I need to explore more. I was going to PLO when my buddy(non-snaggedliner) text me to join him at the last minute. I thought the wind would shut down mid-day but that didnt happen. I hope to fish w/ you SMOG
anglers au futur.

Ah, the private launch route, which is really the only real access besides the marina. The SMOG anglers have felt vastly outnumbered in our last few excursions, so if you're old and decrepit we welcome you with open arms. If you're young, limber and can peddle/paddle for days we'd still welcome you but we might surreptitiously tie a drag chute to your kayak.Mike
