  • overcast skies shined bright on me today!!

growing up a largemouth fisherman, i always caught bigger bass when there wasnt bluebird skies. well after all the great days I've had lately, i woke up this morning and saw overcast as i left the base. drove home excited only to see my backyard waters very rough....so i decided i was gonna make some venison chili this morning to have for dinner. then about 1pm the waters started to calm and i decided to launch. i literally was in the water 5 minutes and had 27 incher. started tolling again and as i passed the spot that i got that 31 a few days ago i reach over and twitched the line to impart some action and Wammo!!! it sure enough worked. after a few minute fight i land a 24 incher. i release it as i felt i was in the right place at the right time and didn't need the meat so soon into launch. well over the next hour i got 11 fish and all but one were over 20!!!! no 12 inchers to go through. all were quality fish. i ended up keeping a second that went 23. so no 30+ fish today but a bunch of keepers for 2 hours of work. love this mid-day bite!!!! much warmer than 0600!! i sure hope this bite stays on for the next week while I'm on leave! all fish came on my usual 3/8 ounce jig with 4 inch Z-man paddle tails. nothing special, its just what is working right now. that twitch and pulling of the line once in a while really worked today. My guess are the fish are following and not quite committing until i twitch the line. just a guess.

luckily i have a few fellow Chiefs at work that love rock filets!!! I'm gonna head out tomorrow and provided the bite stays the same, I'm just gonna release everything, unless a friend from work lets me know he wants some

Like I said before, me and Big Mike must be killing your "Mojo". You kill the fish when we are not around. Please save some for Monday.

I don't want a "skunk" after reading this!

The "shallow" water bite is about played out. Time to hit that 15-20 feet of water near your house. Big Mike and I got 1-10 incher each at Piney on Monday.

One more week of Roctober and my rookie season will be coming to a close.
