Good illustration Frett. I was doing that at first but as the current would push me back I found I caught more fish if I made a long cast past the front of the pilings and let it bounce all the way out of them. A lot of fish came from the back corner and even further off on some pilings. It felt like I was bouncing off a ledge but I didn't have a depthfinder with me. I would sit side saddle and peddle with my hand to move slowly to the other side of the pilings. It worked for a few casts then I would repeat. I'm hoping it will make more sense in the video.

Bill, I was using the carrot stick I got as a gift this spring, it is incredibly sensitive so maybe that will help.

Great report and a great day of fishing. 20+ bass is outstanding and nailing them all on a jig is even sweeter.

What size jighead were you using?

I think my problem in the past was using to lite of a jighead. I could never get it to the bottom consistantly even with casting far upstream of the pylons. Next trip im packing 3/4oz and 1oz leads to make sure i bump the bottom.

I usually carry 1/2-2oz. 2oz is pushing it for my tackle in most cases. I used 3/4 or 1 oz jigs. I'll post a picture of the swamp munkey I was testing. The other jig head I think Rick gave me. It had eyes and was green, but all the paint and eyes fell off pretty quickly and it didn't seem to make a difference.

I need to learn your powder paint skills... mine always come out globy.

Here's the jigs... the hook was coming out the bottom most of the time till the top got too torn up, then just flipped it. Normal BKD use.

Holy smokes I just ordered a bunch of 3/4 oz bullet head jigs and 25 assorted spinner-bait skirts. I come back here and see the same jigs with skirts. Now i know my little investment will work.

            Thanks for the info

I'm a rookie with the powder coating. I just use a heat gun to heat the jig up and dip it in the colors. I then use a brush to tap on the highlight colors. Then they hang on a rack in the oven for 30 mins at 160.

You got it! Should work well! I've always been partial to the shad head, but I don't think it made a difference, bullet should have less drag too.

are you using an old, non-food used, garage oven now? like an old toaster over? dont know if my master would allow me to bake lead in the same over as her cupcakes..lol

Here's my bad video... warning, I also need longer shorts...

Joe had been jigging for a long time and had many bites and lost fish. He finally hooked what he thought was a small one, but it ended being an oyster toad on a 6" BKD!!!

Nope i just snuck it in the oven after hours. It doesn't smell and does no damage to the oven. At least that's what you tell them.

Toaster ovens work great as well.

Great video It looks like all the fish minus the first one in the video were healthy. Out of the 20 or so fish how many had sores?

Argh that Toad fish brought back bad memories of my last Solomons trip.

And I know your secret now. Its the GQ aviators. I need to rock those next time.

I think that may have been the 3rd or 4th fish. I am not very good at putting the rod down and picking up the camera, hence my goose egg on kayak wars. I need to make a camera holder like yours or suck it up and get the yakattack one. I think I have the parts in pvc though, just need to find some time to finish my revo rocket launchers and then work on that.

That fish had the worst sores I saw all day. Caught maybe 2 or 3 others that had some speckling on them, but not nearly as bad as that one that I video'd. I need to use my lip gripper more, I hear bad stories about fish handler's disease.
