This has been a very tough spring for striped bass fishing. I have fished for them in PA, MD, DE, and NJ for the past 5-6 weeks and have only managed a handful of fish. The susky was particularly stingy this year. I am still looking for a nice 30-40 lber from the spring run but based on my spring so far it looks like I'll have to target those NJ/NY Hudson fish. I'm guessing more and more stripers are stopping to spawn in the middle and lower Chesapeake rivers because the numbers of fish on the flats seems to get lower every year. Here is a short video of my only spring flats fish that came while trolling an XR-12. I was so happy to get this one as it continued my streak of at least not getting skunked so far this spring.
