Well it was a good day for a few and a poor day for the most of us.

MOC, PINCH, and I got there and planned to Liveline... but as a group we caught 4 total spot all day (PINCH caught them all). Endless amounts of perch.

So Pinch livelined with what he had but the bite wasn't jumping off, and didn't end up with any rock.

While I was trying to catch spot in order to live line I actually caught an 18.2 inch rockfish on my top/bottom rig with a bloodworm fishbite combo. MY FIRST KEEPER ROCK ON THE KAYAK (Only took 4 trips to the BB) I need to fish more often/everyday (Pinch style)

Meanwhile, Toadfinger and his buddy were jigging all morning. Crushing the rockfish, He caught two around 30 inches.

MOC and I tried to jig but to say the least we need some practice.

So we finished the day, moc, pinch and I getting a great lunch at the fine establishment known as Taco Bell. and then I was off for a 2 hour 15 minute drive back to OC with my Boat in tow. Made it back all good, kayak on the roof and the boat on the trailer.

Anytime on the water is always fun, and good to finally meet you Matt. Yeah, I could not catch a large rock today if my life depended on it. I did catch a small 12 inch Rock that I released and another 7 inch rock. I caught many double header perch, but no spot.

I think Toadfinger was using a white BKD shad on a 3/4 ounce jighead.

Nice work even if the fish weren't cooperating. Looks like toadfinger has got them dialed in. That's a nice grade of summer fish.

We were going to, but because the rockfish weren't biting on Pinch's spot, we decided to try to jig.

I had tried some of the small perch on my live line, but no takers. I guess if they do not want Pinch's spot, then my perch do not have a chance.

I jigged for stripers (bkds and Gulp worm) all morning too, and caught nothing.

Good to finally meet toadfinger and GrilledSardines. Thanks for the tips, toadfinger.

Anyway, as you requested. Look at the Hemingway's web site for their map of the marina. Look at "Slips."
                        http://marinas.com/view/marina/3737_...MD/hemingways/

Under Slips, the marina layout may be hard to read. The docks are labeled. Dock A is at 10 o'clock position. Dock G is almost at the southeast corner (about 4 o'clock) of the marina proper. There is ample parking there and a short walk to the dock.

                        How do you launch?

                        2-man
                        - Put yak parallel to edge of dock
                        - Each person lifts an end and lowers to water

1-man (this is how I did it)
                        - Put yak parallel to edge of dock; yak is on it's cart (My cart has 12" wheels, so it gave me good leveraging height)
                        - Push down on rear and lift front
                        - Pivot front over water and lower; front will be a bit submerged
                        - Lift rear off cart and lower yak to water

This worked well for me. Also, I had an electric motor and 50# battery to install. How the heck to do that?

I used the ladder attached to the dock. Grab battery, go on ladder and lower to yak. Do same thing with motor. I couldn't install the motor or make the battery connections while on the ladder, so I went onto the yak and did the installation while sitting.

Ok, how do you get back up?
                        - Put yak parallel to dock and put heavy stuff on dock
                        - You can climb on dock from there or you can go to the ladder
                        - Yak should be parallel to dock; lie down on dock and reach down to grab the front end of the yak
                        - Pull front end up and rotate onto the dock
                        - Pull and leverage your yak on to the dock (It takes some muscle power, but it's not that hard)

                        Pics:
                        - Toadfinger's yaks
                        - That's my orange yak after the pull-up
                        - See the aluminum alloy ladder behind my yak (you'll have to lower it to use it)
                        - That's toadfinger and his friend

That floating dock is as high off the water as I've ever seen! Looks like a potential self rescue practice opportunity! I won't go to all that effort. Hopefully a good relationship will develop with the owners/managers and we can get back to using the beach for launching.

Looks like that marina will be a 2 man operation for me. Thanks for the intel tufnik.

I actually checked it out on Saturday and decided it was too much once you get back for a 1 man operation. Decided to launch at Terrapin Park instead.

In the future I think launching off SPSP when you are by yourself is more reasonable
