Thanks for the report and congratulations on the first keeper from the bridge.

I was thinking about launching from there yesterday but i was unsure how it would go doing it solo. Thanks for posting the details on you launch technique Tufnik. I think i can do it if i go lite like yesterday. Maybe i will give it a shot this week after work one day.

Solo launching is rather unnerving. I had my doubts initially, but I had to do it. Turns out not as bad as I thought. I'll continue to pump iron to maintain my strength to do this

Jimbo and I did a video about taking your kayak out solo and launching solo. Hopefully he posts it soon. Honestly i like the method of launching and taking out there more than boat ramps and beaches. You do it once and realize how easy it really is.

          7/15 Bay Bridge

          Matt, Pinch, Moc, etc.
Good to see you all out at the bridge on Friday. I don't know what I had going but the fish were treating me & my friend Brian very well. It was his first time at the bridge & he's definitely hooked on kayak fishing.

BTW, I fished mostly with 6" BKD's on a 3/4 oz red jig head. BKD colors were opening night, an off-white one with blue and gray speckles and then a pale chartreuse one. I think the main key to my success was fishing near the bottom.

Matt, thanks for posting the pic of me and the fish. As MOC can attest, I totally suck at remembering either to bring my camera, or use it when I do.

The launch from Hemingway's G dock was a bit different but doable. It sure is an easier paddle to get to the fishing grounds.

Yes, Steve always forgets to bring his camera to catch those "Kodak" moments. But whatever he does, fishing the bridge is his expertise. He can pull a fish out of there where most anglers could not. He is the master of the Pilings.

Is there room for trailer parking?

Re trailers at Hemingway's G dock

There is room for trailers at the G dock although there are no parking spots specifically designated for this from what I saw. Given that, I'd suggest parking in a manner that minimizes conflict with the single car format, especially on weekends when use is likely to be highest. This might be something we'd want to clear with the marina management if there are many trailered yaks.

It was good meeting so of you out on the water. Not much to say about the fishing for me cause I got the skunk! Spot were impossible to catch so I decided to jig, nothing, nada no bites. As always, it was great to be out and meet some of the members even though I got there late.

The G dock isnt as bad as you think. I had my doughts too but if you just back in the kayak slowly it shouldnt be a problem. Bringing it back up was actually a bit easier. There is no parking designated for trailers but you can still park a trailer there accordingly. I brought mine and I know Matt had his boat with him.

                      Hey guys,
I have been thinking about fishing the bridge since I live in Queenstown. My question I have is, in the past I know most kayaker launched from the beach by hemmingways, but in a few posts I saw G dock or terrapin park. Did they stop the launching from the beach, I noticed they did some work there. Also if launching from g dock do you check with the marina first? And if so, is there anyone that we need to talk to spicific? I will be getting there once I figure the easiest way to get my kayak there. I could do terrapin but its a long haul with my 12 foot sit on. Thanks for any info, I just want to make sure as not to cause a problem.
