First excursion of the year on the Yak. Paddle out of Castle harbor/Queens landing late in the morning. My wife and I were really trying to get our crabbing mojo down. (We're not too successful yet)
Anyway, after getting her situated with hand lines and a couple of traps, I paddle around studying the fish finder and casting a little here and there. I wasn't really out there to "fish". A couple of hours of no crabs, she decide to head in. I decided to change baits. Took off a storm swimming shad and tied on a rattletrap. And.....bang! monster white perch. Then another really nice one trolling around. Unexpected dinner. Pulled the empty crab traps and headed in. Good start on my home waters.
