Went looking for snake heads. Saw one, he saw my frog, he wasn't interested. Saw a bunch of gar jumping. Saw a bunch of snakes... 6..one decided to keep following my yak, until I spanked him gently with the paddle... I'm not afraid of them, brown water snakes, but I don't like stalkers ... I tried a super cast to reach a far away jumping fish. The reel stopped, the frog lure just kept going and going.. Good times. So then I decide to tie on my brand new buzz bait. It still had the bar code wrapped on the hook. I tie a fantastic knot with my braid trim the "tag" end, then toss it into the water to keep it from wrapping around the eye on the end of rod... Bloop Bloop Bloop, bye bye new lure. That apparently wasn't the tag end...then I found the kittys to play with and I didn't feel so bad for tossing 2 lures away today. They were loving the salted livers I made. I threw a few back, and had to quit when I ran out of bait. No monsters, but steady pullage.

Nice cats. Sucks about the lures.

The snakes were most likely northern watersnakes (Nerodia sipedon) as brown watersnakes (Nerodia taxispilota) don't quite range up into Maryland.

Two lures, I think you got off easy, Mallows usually takes three to four of mine per trip.

I love fishing there, but hate going there alone. I never catch much out in the ships due to being unable to relax.

Least you got some eaters! And that's good to know about the gar! I'll wait a week or so for them to get up into Fletcher's :-)

            Been there, done that!

Glad you found some cats to ease the pain.

Mostly over getting myself suck on one of the thousands of metal spikes in the water, one of those in a scupper hole in water over my head would be hard to free without dumping my yak.

lol been there done that. Its a running joke with my friends, a bass boat wave lifted me up and i came down right on a spike in the scupper hole my helpful buddy's told me to get out and push. I just fished a while using it as an anchor until i got another wave and managed to push off. Joke was on them because while stuck I hooked and landed a nice snakehead.
