I told Surfdog and Mytmouse that I wasn't going because of the heat, you guys are sure making it hard for me to stay home. I tell you what, If I'm not at Anglers by 5:00, don't wait for me, cause I ain't coming..

fjarhead
looks like a party
looks like mostly incoming all morning, i'll be there unloading at 0500, if u come later just go straight out past the duck blind and look for plastic.
fajrhead, probably go out sunday morning too, i can only get away on weekends for my fishing exercise so i have to made the best of it or id be old, fat and lazy instead of just old and lazy
bring plenty of water! i know cpr but you guys are too ugly for me!
Unloading at 0500 hrs? Maybe I can do it if I can get bait earlier than 5 am when Angler's opens. How is the 24-hr bait vending machine at Angler's? Or should I wait until the shop opens? I'd like to pick up bws and shrimp.
Also, is the machine-pay for launching at Roman in working order?
Just got a call for help planting trees in the morning for my church...
Another missed opportunity to meet and fish with you all...
Hopefully next time. Good luck!
Got caught at 4:45 am in the eastbound lane on Rt 50 just before I 97. Police blocked both sides to investigate some traffic accident. I waited and then took a side road toward Annapolis with navigational help from my wife at home on mapquest using GPS cell phone. I did loose over an hour, and finally hit the water at Romancoke at 8 am.
Nice morning. Calm waters. Not many boats out there. Metroman, mytymouse, tucked in and surfdog were already fishing. They hit a lot of wp and croakers. I think surfdog got some stripers. I took home eight fat croakers, 12-15", using bws, squid and shrimp on FF and hi/lo rigs. Caught nothing on the squid, but they sure liked the shrimp and bws.
Got a chance to use my new Luna 203 baitcaster with 14# trilene on a Fenwick HMG 7'. It was fun fighting those rascal-like HHs on my new gear - I really like this combo. Got to get a rock on this one day.
nice seeing you out there tufnik glad u got into some nice fish. i was trying out a new outfit also, 1 of my older finnor med 6'6 rod with a new okuma 3000 abf loaded with 10lb fireline crystal, rod was a little soft for me might put the reel on another rod but it had no problem with an angry 24" striper or double FA croakers
the action was hot out there! And so was the weather by 11am. Perfect time for mytmouse & I to get off the water. It was a great day. The white perch action was non stop. When in the zone, fish were on the instant the bait reached the bottom. Let the first hit marinate for a few seconds, then you often ended with a double. They wanted the bloodworm, but I also got one on a gulp peeler crab. Croaker action wasnt too hot for me, but I did manage a 14 incher. Mytmouse bagged quite a few HORSES.
Seeing as though I dont get out often, I was in this trip to bring home some table fare. I ended with 20 perch (all in the 9-10" range, blackies), 5 spot (9" avg), and the 1 croaker.
I am giving the spot to my pan handler buddy by my job. [to make a long story short...a couple of years ago, I caught a bunch of fish and gave him some. One day I was walking to the train to head home. He stopped me to thank me for the fish. He held me up for about 30 seconds...enough to miss my train. The train that I missed was the red line train that crashed, killin 9, injuring hundreds]
I got all the fish filleted, boneless and skinless.
In other sad sad news, I lost a rod & reel today. Not just any rod, but my "walmart special". I've had this rod since I was about 15 years old. It was a Shakespeare Pro-Am...cheapie that came with a Zebco Z22 spincast reel. The cheapest rod I own...I've had more fun with it than any. I was sitting side saddle bailing perch. I pulled up a double header on my other rod. In a moment of chaos, the rod got knocked out of the flush mount holder. With its short butt, it doesnt sit too deep in the holder. I reached as far as I could without falling in. But it wasnt enough.
I think it was time for this rod to go. The Gods were telling me. Earlier in the morning, I knocked it in the water. A #6 hook in my shorts saved it from resting on the floor of Eastern Bay. This second time sealed the deal.
