Thanks everyone for the tips and advice. Ken Kayak was nice enough to invite me to join he and Manny at Fort Smallwood on Sunday morning. I did my best to incorporate the tips from this thread and from Ken and wanted to report out both good and bad from the outing. The good, I played follow the leader and trolled towards and around the channel. I caught 4 small rockfish and 1 keeper pictured below - I measured it at around 23" but the tail wouldn't stay on the hawg trough for the picture. The bad, I had a bad ring on my fish stringer and lost the fish. Didn't realize until I was ready to head in and the rockfish was nowhere to be found. Luckily I had a picture, otherwise none of my friends and family would have believed my story. Another lesson learned - use better quality equipment as the adage that "you get what you paid for" held true once again...
