Did you try the CBBT? That's where the big flounders hang

That stinks about missing your target species...but the consolation fish seemed pretty nice!

Does anyone know when the bite is "hot" on the CBBT for flounder?

I check the NOAA charts and it appears that "The Cell" artificial reef is approx 4+ miles paddle one way. Am I reading that correct? That may push the limit my desire to paddle for fish.

I should have phrased my question better...Has anyone heard of paddling out to "the cell" and fishing successfully from a yak?

there is alot of head boats that deepwater drift for flounder and we heard radio reports of some catching over 50 in a day.maybe u should just go on a head boat and catch more instead of paddling 4 miles and probly have lesser results

lesser results? lol, not a chance. Half the fun of kayak fishing is the adventure.

deep water floundering is a bit of a challange and a nasty thing to have to use more than 10 ounces of weight for a flounder.i would sugggest drifting arounder 45 foot and on a 1.5 to 1.8 knot current.keep ur line STRAIGHT down or else it wont work.if u cant get bigg enough strips of crokaer or spot ,simply sow 2 strips 2gether likeu would with ur old pants or something like that.also.take a small rigging needle and use smallllll menhaeden and rig the hook through the mouth and out the anus.flounder love pnut bunker
