  • Patuxent at Waysons

Has anybody been to the Patuxent at Waysons lately, was thinking about a quick trip there next week sometime. I know it gets muddy real quick after a rain just don't want to waste a trip.

Well we haven't had any rain in a week. I was on the river in davidsonville Sunday catching catfish.

Yes this is the launch I was referring to, I have never put in at Davidsonville before but years ago we did use the 4-H site with a Scout Troop. Wayson's is a easy launch but it does have a lot of snags if you go up river.

What do you usually fish for and catch down there?
I usually just bottom fish for catfish.
There are usually a few trees or log jams to navigate up this way but it's do able in my little sit in kayak.

Perch mostly and catfish, I've heard of people catching some LM Bass north of the bridge at Wayson's but they have escaped my offerings so far. I don't fish that area very much anymore but it is a beautiful place to paddle and explore. I keep hearing about another launch just north of Wayson's but haven't found it yet, on the Anne Arundel County side. If you like catfish south of there toward Jug Bay and south there are some spots that are loaded with catfish they are mentioned in a book I had read several years ago and I don't remember the author. Western Branch has both white and yellow perch in the early spring along with some pickerel.

I hiked out to Wooten's landing a year or two ago and unless they changed the gate situation, you have to drag all the way from the road to the launch.

That's odd. County site says you can drive down to the launch. I wonder if it is like governors bridge, call ahead and get a gate code.

@eyedaddy: small white perch & small cats were being caught just south @ Jug Bay on sunday.
