  • Red Drum which areas to fish?

    Hi gang,

What areas would be the best to target red drum in the next few weeks? I have heard they run in the waters around Point lookout. Any suggestions? I am not looking for the big bills ( not that I would complain) just a keeper to take home and grill.

    Thanks,

I'd suggest Piney Pt. St. Mary's River area.

        St. George's Island
        Rt 5 to rt 240
        Nice boat ramp and parking
Google Md boat ramps and then Md Water Access and click St. Mary's county on map

Thanks for the heads up. Even if they are small they will still be a blast to catch. And..... Piney point is a lot closer than the Outerbanks.

Around the riprap by the PLO lighthouse has been one of the best spots for me. Especially around the metal pilings

I caught a 15" puppy inside Piney Point creek on Sunday. However the best locations for me this year has been Smith creek launching at Blue Haven Marina. 2 weeks ago caught 20 puppies, but all undersized.
