Kevin, Bill and John joined me in a late afternoon trip to the lower, slower southern Maryland waters last evening...we were targeting speckled trout and we caught some but no keepers- they wanted small 3 inch bodies on 1/8-1/4 oz jigheads at a slow retrieve- lots of 12 inch and under fish but no keepers- Bill remarked that we got a mini dink slam...just about dark the top water action got going- I hooked up a 30 (+) inch fish that took fifty yards of drag as I was chasing it across the flats- after a lengthy tug of war the hooks pulled- back into the fray I quickly landed two 21- inch keepers...all my buddies were similiar involved and all got keeper fish to take home...the Lady Luck is indeed a Lucky Lady...

It would have haunted me if I hadn't gotten right back into the thick of the action, John- I got a 33 inch fish on the last day of spring trophy season at Piney Point so, I didn't sweat it much- there will be more and bigger fish...the fall season is just now kicking off...and since this is my second trip on the Lady Luck, I have used the ST fins for the second and last time- they are ok- they work fine, but I am used to the extra efficiency of my turbo fins, so I ordered the kit to upgrade the Lady...can't understand why the Hobie folks think an Outback shouldn't have (as standard equipment) the turbo fins like the Pro Anglers do..Last edited by ronaultmtd; 10-03-2016, 12:48 PM."Lady Luck" 2016 Red Hibiscus Hobie Outback, Lowrance Hook2-7TS

Indeed, twas nice finding topwater action with fellow snaggedliners. Instead of a solo trip for me, I had some fish-catching company. No birds to show us the fish just good karma. I cut off the trebles on my topwater lures to make releasing fish easier. It was awesome to see some bodyslamming from the beefy stripers. I kept one just over 22" because it swallowed my lure. I did, however, get my lure back when I cleaned my fish. We lucked out with no wind & just a few drops from the sky. I enjoyed fishing w/ you guys: Ron, Kevin, Bill. Until next time...

SoMo heating up Ron, great to hear. Now your making it tough to decide where to go in the morning. My road Dawg Big Mike is up in Canada leaf peeping and enjoying life with out me, so I am a solo Yakker for the next two weeks.
I hope I can get out with you guys one evening.

Holler at me- I can get up early- just not my favorite time..love the just before dark action on a falling tide...we saw some big fish yesterday chasing bait in 3-4 feet of water- as big or bigger than my sleigh ride fish..."Lady Luck" 2016 Red Hibiscus Hobie Outback, Lowrance Hook2-7TS

I was great to be with the So Md crew......I was happy to catch a speck regardless of size. It was a rough trip for me, line in a power boat prop, eye glasses and pliers overboard, guides popping off my Villian rod for no reason............but when the topwater bite hit, I was in the eye of the storm. 5 fish over 20" the two in the sink just under and just over 22"

Very nice gents! Seems like fall fishing is in a good swing now. Respect for the So MD crew [emoji6]
Last week had a whole school of fingerling specks on the line in Janes Island. I just hope they survive the coming winter to be keepers next year!

Good to hear! Let me know next time you guys go out, if love to join.
I've been having good luck at sunset on the rocks on base, but haven't taken the yak out this fall yet. Landed a 24" striper on a red/white topwater lure Friday night. They out up a great fight this time of year.

I lost a plus 30in fish yesterday at the boat. Stupid me was overzealous and tried to pull him on with out lipping him and my gulp jig head hook bent. I almost flipped the yak reaching in the water to grab him as he mentally tail slapped me in the face to say good by. Last night there was sleep lost.

There will be more- I turtled my one and only time lunging for a 30 (+) redfish at Piney Point two years ago- it wasn't worth it then and it isn't worth it now- I carry a generic boga grip now for big fish- and probably should just bring a net- I would bring home more fish if I always carried a net..."Lady Luck" 2016 Red Hibiscus Hobie Outback, Lowrance Hook2-7TS

Yeah I have my fish grips. Just to antsy to get him on board. If you have experience with fish grips, Do you think the boca style grips are any quicker to lip the fish? After that I went home and got the net. Went back out and biggest was around 21.
