  • Claiborne

Took the revo to Claiborne yesterday...caught plenty of nice wp in the 10" and 11" range casting spinners in the shallows as well as lots of biting flies. I read online that a mixture of 1/3 hydrogen peroxide and water in a spray bottle will keep them away. I will give this a try next time. I trolled the channel edge down to Tillman pt. and caught a 25" rock on an x-rap. I was using u.l. rod with 8 Lb. braid to get it down deeper and when he hit i thought i had a cow nose for a second. That rock was a blast on u.l.

It had me smiling too. it took longer than usual to get in, but that's the fun part...open water, no snags on u.l....I took some pictures but i am of the old fart generation and haven't learned how to post them on here yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks Metroman...I'll try a little later. I just ate the rockfish for dinner with some corn on the cob, tomatoes and cukes and onions. It was gooooood.Surfdog, I agree about the clam buoy, that's good for croakers. The last few weeks i have been going to eb in my tin boat and marked lots of fish...pods of rock. Managed to get some low to mid 20's jigging bkds. Last week i got them breaking on a yozuri crystal minnow. They wouldn't bite on any jigs. So i take the kayak and didn't mark any fish or see any birds except one small pod of breaking rock and by the time i got to them, they were long gone...that's fishing. Black Walnut point is a great place to catch rock along the riprap. It can get rough there at times. I found a place to put in at the cove next to it and it wasn't a bad paddle/peddle at all. I think i remember you and i talked about Cook's Pt. some time ago. I never did get there. My put in was a private land owners and they don't live there anymore. Good luck tomorrow.

oh yeah i remember, that looked like a good spot. hum ive been fishing from romancoke the last couple weeks and havent seen any breakers there. did get a couple 24 and 25" fish 2 on shrimp and 1 on soft crab. chasing breakers is tough unless they are moving toward you. with the new moon the rock should be in close in the morning IDK might just go to claiborne in stead the waters deeper closer to shore

got there at 0515 and the wind was roaring saw a boat out by the green buoy really bouncing up and down and we decided to bag it and hit the severn instead fishing not rear as good as EB but not worth a azz pounding either. probably hit romancoke in the morning.

Well, it always pays to have a plan B. I think i remember reading that Eastonkayaker went to Cummings Creek just down the road when EB was snotty....looks protected there. I haven't put in there yet, but it's on my plan B list if i get blown out at EB. I think EB is going to really come alive in the next few months...it's been good to me so far in the past few weeks with last Thur. being the slowest day. I'm not complaining...it's great being out there with all the fish that funnel through that area.
