Today I relaxed and stayed in my air-conditioned home (in the 70s). Outside was in the high 80s.

At one point, I went to the family room, sat at my favorite Spot, and Fished a bunch of channels. You know, ESPN, Black Belt, WFN, etc. The Mixed Martial Arts channel had a good feature Fight, so this was a Keeper I watched. When it was lunch time, I went to the kitchen. I Anchored myself on the chair and had much more than a Nibble. I also had a nice refreshing drink where the Salinity was just right and the liquid was clear and cool, maybe high 30's. There was no Lunching fee, as usual.

Later, I went to a Deeper part of the house, the cooler basement. Maybe 8-10' deep. Marked a lot of stuff to do (fix facet, clean work area, etc), but I didn't Bite any of it. So I Paddled back to the surface. Caught more channels before trying a another area, the garage.

It was warm in the garage, in the 90s. It was later in the afternoon and I thought it was High-tide I do some work. So I Trolled around the yard and decided to clean up the front porch area by Piling up and bagging the leaves. After that I was ready and went back in the cooler house. That's it. Next day off I'm going fishing.

I fished the creek early today- On the water by 6 am- It was hot water and slow fishing- a few small bass on Man Minus Baby 1 fire tiger- lots of snakeheads rolling around I had three within ten feet of the yak- they looked like they were just not hungry- I threw everything i had in the tackle box and only had one blowup on a Real Target green frog- I threw five different Zoom flukes and not a single nibble- the snakeheads just weren't biting toay for some reason and there were a lot of them that I saw up close in the shallow weed beds, so Tuf- you made the right choice-

Kevin, can you stand in your canoe? You could definitely bow fish these. I was in the creek this afternoon and I had one blow up my frog 4 times! I saw it fining in the weeds and it reminded me of trying to sight cast reds. Really cool and just as frustrating!!!

Tufnik- I have too many of those days, makes the ones spent on the water all the more better.

I was surrounded by them- i had my stakeout pole jammed down in four feet of water/weeds sitting still and counted ten large snakeheads finning within 25 feet of me- their tails were clearly visible and a couple were monsters- at least three feet long or bigger. they appeared to be building nests in the weeds with their heads down and tails up- maybe spawning? If I had a bow I could have shot them easily- I thought about trying to snag them with a snatch hook, but I really wanted to catch one the right way-

Ok, this post has completely ventured off of the original topic of making hanging at the house sound like a fishing report...Hilarious.

I saw the snagging hooks at Basspro the other day and was really tempted to buy one to take next time I go down in search of the snakies. Would anyone care to admit that they've used this tactic. If I see a big snakehead and they ignore my lure offering, I would not be opposed to trying this...

And you are right- I apologize to Tufnik for hijacking his post- just letting him know he made the right choice (sort of) staying inside the cool while I sweated in the blazing sun watching in frustration the snakeheads swimming all around me with lock jaw-

Main thing is we get energized by the thread. You got good intel, Ron. Now I want to try a 6 foot trident spear, or a snagging hook, or a bow. Gotta get'em

The one I caught at the m&g had a belly full of eggs, even though it was so small. We saw several swirling on each other yesterday and they were not interested in our offerings. I had one hit in the same place 4 times and I think it was more defensive than anything. I'd say they will be on the feed soon after dropping those. Do they guard the nest like bass? Probably throw some creatures at them and get a defensive strike. Might need to switch tactics or move to snag hook!

I was dodging honey-dos, too. Ended up setting the hook into mowing the lawn. Half the lawn got away at sunset.

Snakeheads defend their offspring for a while. I don't know if they all stay in the nest, but there'll be a cloud of larvae/post-larvae/fingerlings in the water, and the adults will be guarding them. The offspring will be close to the water's surf, and you can supposedly see the dappling caused by the fingerlings. Casting something into that cloud is supposed to result in a sure hit. Of course, snakeheads are supposed to be consummate apex predators that eat everything in their path. So much for that theory.
