Departed Fort Washington Marina a few minutes before 7am and ran to my confidence spot. Set the hook in 12 feet on a nice incoming tide. Figured the big ones would be at edge feeding. Wrong, but did score many nice eaters before the sun got up high. Nothing in the skinny water however. Moved to 22 feet and had grass just kill us for an hour or two. But still catching fish while cleaning lines. So I stayed and the wind came up and cleared the water. Tide slowly died and the mud cats showed up. The mud cats normally signal the end of the bite. But just as I was calling it day a rod out in the deep water started screaming. I quickly flipped the bait runner and the rod bent over and continued to scream line out. First thought was sturgeon..maybe..but it stopped and started dogging the birthday boy. A good 15 minute tug of war and we saw the monster. Netted and it took two of us to lift it in. Great way to end a day.

BTW the wind died down as we packed up and when I pulled into my driveway it was just howling. Perfect timing.

    Great day again.
