A couple of minor firsts for me.. no size involved...

been a while since I posted anything here...
Luckily able to get out on the water with decent frequency...
"New" employment the last year and I'm on call all the time...

So... planned a trip a couple of weeks ago... had to go.. you know..
Woke up at 2am.. and Thomas Point had winds at 22 knots.. oh well..
    original plan scrapped... make other.

Went to Good Hands... hadn't been there in two years... figured I'll go
perch fishing if the winds don't drop... well they didn't...
Tried to work the "break water" but you know that North corner.. like a major washing machine..
And since I "paddle".... too much to handle...

Went out in the tributaries.. caught a bunch of perch...
And a Catfish.. thought it was Chain Pickerel... at first...
Pretty cool in saltwater... Beetle spinner and mini salt tube....
    the perch rig.
About 16 inches.. let 'em go.

Today I hit it early about 4am... different location...
    NOT down south....
Got into the birds about 7am got one keeper Rockfish... about 21inches let 'em go.
Lots of fish then it stopped at 7:45am... oh well.. back to "hunting" and not following the birds...

Then it exploded again... on and on and on... all over... no keepers... but tons of Rockfish..
A couple of boats had found the area by now... one was fly fishing which was cool...
None of the boats were getting keepers but everyone was having fun.

So at 10am.. paddled back to my favorite "beach"... just so soak in the great day
    and have lunch...

Being so mellowed out.. and a wonderful early morning... just set out to explore
and move down and around the peninsula where I had not been before...

A couple of deer watched me as I rounded the point from up on a small cliff...
A group of Cormorants were spooked as they probably didn't see many people there...
And I watched a Bald Eagle and an Osprey do aerial acrobats as they battled over a fish
the Osprey had snatched. The Bald Eagle won as the Osprey dropped the fish...

A short while later I caught my first Speckled Trout... what a beautiful fish.. in about 5feet of water.
I guess about 20inches... I let 'em go...

Well it was about 6 miles to get back from where I was now...
All the time rounding the peninsula... tons of fish (Rockfish)... and on the way back..
Talked again to some boaters in the flurry of catching fish... no keepers... close
    but no dinner.
But everyone was surely having fun.

First "saltwater" Catfish a couple of weeks ago.
    First Speckled Trout (beautiful fish).
Don't mess with a Bald Eagle and it's fish.

We have enjoyed an excellent speckled trout run this year...caught them earlier and much bigger than in years past..Texas Gulf Coast bragging size Specks...and they are not just concentrated in one place...glad you got a nice size speck...they can give a good fight on light tackle...
