Trout- put and take

I always start my season with a couple of Rainbow Trout ultra light fishing trips...love the tiny rods and reels on 12-15 inch trout...anything bigger is just too much tackle for these feisty fighters...my favorite outfit is an old Quantum micro spinning reel I bought back in 1968 on a 5’ Shakespeare Micro-Graphite rod with 4 pound test Trilene UL...it holds 75 yards of 4#...my other outfit is modern...a Pfleuger Supreme UL spinning reel (10 ball bearings) with 125 yards of 6# on a Cabelas Fish Eagle 7’ UL rod...last spring I caught a 4# channel cat fishing for rainbows on it...thought I had a world record!! Headed out Friday for my first kayak trip of 2018- wish me luck..

I enjoy put and take trout as well. something to scratch the itch during the winter time. Just waiting until they stock some of the lakes close by.

Preseason trout stocking has begun. Check the DNR Fisheries website for details to include when, where, numbers and species stocked.

Thanks guys...first trip of 2018 is starting off right...this time last year I had three trips under my belt including catching my biggest Blue Cat of the year, but this winter has been much colder than last year...I just hope the bitter cold hasn’t screwed our Southern Maryland Redfish and Speck fishery...
