  • FIrst fishing trip of the year: Inlet fishing at OC.

Caught 3 undersized tautog's: 14, 15, and 15.5. No blue's in yet. One shad caught by a friend. But, lot's of beer consumed, had a blast.

I'll start to fish the Severn, 22 May, for perch. I can't wait to launch!

    Stan,

At least you had some pullage.

I can tell you that perch were not at their typical Severn haunts as of yesterday.

    Stripers were scarce too.

    My only catch:

22 May will bring a different story, I'm sure.

^ Mark, better than a skunk! I wouldn't think you'd be a rattletrap kinda guy!

Stan - Any nice day on the water is better than a day in the office. Glad you were able to get out and get some nice pullage, Tautog is on my bucket list.

        Mark,
Ha! I've had some of those days! Thanks for the intel. I hope that two weeks will improve things.

Fishing for tautag takes a different rig. I like using a Carolina rig with a 1/0 hook and 2-3 ounce egg sinker: http://www.fishingmoz.com/bass-fishi...olina-rig.html

That way you don't get stuck in the rocks as much. Also, I use 80+ lb braid, and hop that I can rip out the stuck rigs. Still I lost 4 rigs in 2 days. Also, Sand Fleas are the bit of choice for Tautog. Good luck fishing for them!

Michael -- I'll use any lure or fly that has the potential to work. But if you'll notice, I removed the trebles. John Rentch had some success with a white crank bait a few days prior. Hence my choice. It has worked for me in the past. I just didn't drag it where the fish were yesterday.
