  • Slower lower 5/17

Saw a very small window of opportunity this morning so I woke up early and found glassy conditions at the launch with a slight drizzle. Perfect! I was into fish almost immediately and had 5 in the boat in the first 20 minutes. Fish kept coming steady after that with several 18” fish (do they know when size is lowered). Finally got a 20” fish after an hour.

The Fishing started to slow around 7:30 and skies were getting darker so I trolled back to the launch. Ended the day in excess of 15 fish but stopped counting so don’t know exactly. Multiple color and size paddletails working and I tried some top water as well. I won’t swear to it but I thought I saw a dreaded CNR fin. Ugh.

Thanks for the Report! This weather pattern all week has been dreadful, good to see you take advantage of a window of opportunity and be rewarded! Tight Lines Wazoo!

Good work Mike. The southern Maryland old guys are already making good catches.

I certainly hope so. Still waiting for our first reports of specks and reds in the area to organize an impromptu meet and greet.

Going to try to get out Sunday to prospect for Specks and Reds, Mike...if the weather cooperates...but right now looking out the window at 1.38 inch per hour rainfall...dunno...
