  • Fishing Mid Severn: 12 Perch and one baby rockfish

Took my Yak out the first time this year. Saw lots of fish in 15 ft columns of water--hanging around 5-10 feet. But only caught one perch there. The best action I had was in 5-7 feet of water with lots of seaweed on the bottom (2-3 feet). Caught 10 perch and one rock fish there.

In general very overcast day. Got rained on multiple times.... Kind of fun.

One thing, Smith's Marina up'd there yak launch cost to $10.

    Best Regards,
    Stan

Good report. Smith's is always nice to the Yakers, even me with my trailered PA-12 it's $10 bucks. They are now offer Kayakers a season pass for $140.00. That's not bad if you live up that way and do the spring and fall season.

I launched out of Tucker St this afternoon about 1:30 and paddled to the mouth of Weems Creek to watch the Blue Angels. I dropped an anchor and had a wonderful vantage point to see the show. It seemed shorter than usual -- about 35 mins. But on two occasions a jet came screaming over my head not much higher than the tree tops. That was thrilling.

On the way back I made a half-hearted effort to cast a spinner to the shoreline. I had no bites. The water in the main river as well as in Weems was stained brown.

              Blue Angels: Very cool.......

Brown Water: It seemed that the brown stain was in patches. At first I thought it was just in shallow portions, but then I ran into a patch at deeper depths.

Yeah, Baitball and I had really heavily stained water on Monday...none of my regular go-to colors worked...Manny discovered black swimbait was getting a few hits...he shared a few with me and that is what caught ALL our fish..

Oh, one last thing. The trolling speed that worked for me was very slow: 1- 1.5 MPH. I am not sure what the tide (e.g. water column speed) was doing, though.
