  • Rainbows and Waterfalls

Back in 1971 Shuggie Otis released the classic Strawberry Letter 23 which has been sampled numerous times, most recently by Pretty Lights as Rainbows and Waterfalls. This morning had me singing that song as the morning was spectacular. It’s not always about the catching.

I found a school of 13-15” stripers willing to take topwater at the St George’s bridge. They were only on top for 20 minutes but what a blast while they were. The clouds parted enough for the full moon to show itself.

While I trolled on some flats a partial rainbow appeared. Who cared st this point if anything was biting.

Went off in search of drum or specks but none to be found. Did have an interesting follow that I can’t swear to but sure looked like a small snakehead when casting to some grass banks. Odd whatever it was

No keepers but what an energizing morning. Glass water, rainbows, moonbeams and gorgeous sunrise.

Shuggie Otis... now that’s a name I haven’t heard in years!! Looks like you had a beautiful day on the water and catching fish was a bonus. Gotta get with Yak67 so I can come get some slower lower action.

Last time out, I saw Ospry babies in there nest, The mom was flying around getting sticks to expand the nest and fish for them to eat. It was so cool to see the mom flying back with driftwood and fish. I agree with you, fishing is not always about the fishing. I had the season of life that I was stressed out at work and life in general. I used to go out in my yak, find a quiet place and just contemplate, relax and pray. I came back so refreshed.... No fish, but who cares when you've had a great time.

        Best Regards,
