  • New to the bay

My son and myself we’re going to come down to the bay tomorrow. We’re coming from Carroll County does anyone have a suggestion of where might be the best place to launch and have a nice day on the water. We have surf fished from Delaware down through Hatteras but just started kayak fishing last summer. Any suggestions would be great thanks for your help.

A lot of where you want to go in a kayak will depend on wind and weather, but assuming the wind is good, here are two of my favorite spots-

    Ft. Armistead:
Pro- free, easy to access a lot of different types of water (channel, structure, etc.)
Con- Boat traffic, more industrial area

    Jonas Green Park:
Pro- Free, great access to the Severn River, a nice paddle regardless of fish, you can go for rockfish as well as perch if you hit the docks/bridges
Con- Hasn't been as productive this year so far according to what I've read here, and depending on the weather there can be a decent amount of boat traffic

Many other folks on here have many favorite launches of their own and even different opinions on the two above, but those are the two I use the most and enjoy. For full access to paddle-in sites on the Bay, check this link below. Do your research and have a great day out there with your son!

I like launching from Carrs wharf on the Rhode river or Beverly Triton beach. Carrs has limited parking but good launch. Both are free.
