Severn - Saturday 6/16

Trolled the Severn from Jonas to Chase Creek cut across and poked around Clements Creek, and then trolled back to Horseshoe Point and then back across to Jonas. Put in around 845/9, pulled out around 1115. Severn remains elusive, some marks on my FF but not nearly as many marks as i'd hoped. I was trolling an Xrap XR12 Silver and john-deere curl-tail to Chase, and then XR12 and Rat-L-Trap from Chase to Horseshoe.

When I put in, a fellow angler said he pulled about a 12-18 perch on soft-crab, only 6 were of decent size. Also said he saw a juvenile Osprey fighting with a Bald Eagle.

No photos to report. I had expected the Severn to heat-up by now. I did forget my big-nose jig spinners at home, and forgot to grab some live BW which always produce perch.

Hopefully others reports are more positive.

I think the striper bite was difficult all over on Saturday.

Be thankful you didn't lose your X-Rap and Rat-L-Trap to a ray.

Thanks for your report. I was out Saturday with a friend, launching Jonas Green at 6 and returning at 11. We fished from near the park, down to the VLF towers, with very little striper action. Friend caught one 16" striper on a jighead/paddle tail combo. I got frustrated and fished docks with a beetle spin, and caught 3 white perch. Biggest was 10".

The guy who saw the Osprey/Eagle was in a green wilderness or perception, driving a green older model Chevy truck. Also saw a new white Dodge 1500 with a slick PVC tube setup for unloading from the truck bed, guy in the Chevy said he was in a papaya Hobie Outback doing crabbing (i'm assuming trotline?) and said he was doing very well for crabs.

Good to hear. Might be time to break out the crabbing gear!
