  • South River perch Sunday morning

I went down to Quiet Waters park this morning for a couple of hours of almost non stop perching. They were hitting three inch white grubs with a green jig head pretty regularly. I switched around to different colors and different shad darts but the white grub was the best. Most were 6-7 inches but I got three (or the same fish three times ) that were 10 inches. The water was green again and visibility was around 1.5-2 feet.

Tuesday I am going to head out of Homeport Farm around 6 or so to try my luck in the creek.

    John,

Thank goodness for white perch in the summer. They keep us busy when the stripers are scarce.

    Good luck tomorrow at Homeport.

You don't have to venture far from the launch to find good pockets of perch there.

Where did you put in at Quiet Waters?
It seemed that the canoe / kayak launch was a fairly long carry / schlep from the parking area.

It is, but if you have a small kayak, it is no sweat. I don't think I would haul my big one up there, I might have a heart attack.

We actually took our dog down to Quiet Waters to enjoy the dog-run & dog beach from 3pm-6pm, there were several people fishing/crabbing from the bulkhead, I did see a few perch pulled-up. Yesterday was beautiful, and we saw several yakkers from our beach chairs relaxing at the dog-beach.
