  • Looking for blues and spanish

Friend and I are headed to Eastern shore today looking for these two species. Plan is to launch just south of the bay bridge. Anyone had luck in that area or do we need to go further south?

I have not found blues at the surface or any spanish mackerel in my frequent trips in Eastern Bay. I did find a school of 6" bluefish on the bottom in 35'-40' depth at the mouth of Eastern Bay two weeks ago. We jigged up a few but lost interest when all of them were tiny. I have heard reports of blues not too far below Poplar Island and of mackerel farther south.

Typically in years past, I'd find small blues all over the Patapsco at this time. With all the rain, the salinity is down so you've got to head further south.
