  • More striper action off Chesapeake Beach (Oct 16, 2018)

You gotta love the Chesapeake Bay Birds.

Left Fishing Creek at 10:30 AM after the morning work. I fished in the shallow water, chasing birds, for an hour. I cuaght 15-20 stripers at 11-6".
I patiently waited for birds in the deeper water (30' +). When I saw the birds I chased. I caught 12+ stripers at 17-26" in 28-34' of water.

    Video Fishing Log:

    Thanks

Thanks for the report. Nice to hear larger fish are finally moving into the mid-Bay area.

From my experience, if it works for largemouth and smallmouth, it probably works for striper. The presentation has to be different, though.

My two sons and I used use the large size buzzbaits When there were top-water actions. We usually cast with wind in the Bay. It is hard to cast against wind. We retrieve the Buzzbait a lot faster than when we fish for LM.
I usually put 1 OZ inline sinker for cast-ability. I din't have the skirt for the buzzbait. Chartreuse skirt resulted in more hook ups
