  • Potomac River Dam 4

Well the plan was to launch from the WV side of dam and fish the islands but the melt from the snow had brought the water levels up too high for me. So we fished the shore and was able to pick up a couple of walleye. A good day after all but any day on the water is a good day.

I love fishing the Potomac mid summer when I can wade around the rocks. The water levels were never really good for it this summer.

What kind of action do walleye like? Slow jigging? Are they usually close to the bottom?

I hope it stopped raining next year and we can float the river up here next year. I don't think I have ever seen a year this bad with high water.

Totally agree with you Rob. I only was able to make one kayak trip on the Potomac in 2018 and that was back on July 14.

Some nice sized muskie & walleye fishing at dusk in that location.
